In 2023, Allianz Trade in Canada celebrates a remarkable milestone – 100 years.  

In 1923, we opened our doors as the only company in Canada to specialize in trade credit insurance. Having protected our customers through countless historical events and 13 major economic recessions, today we remain Canada’s largest private provider of trade credit insurance.

It is because of our loyal customers, partners, and employees that Allianz Trade in Canada continues to thrive. Many of which have been with us for decades, and for this we are grateful.

A Look Back at the History of Allianz Trade in Canada

In March of 1923, Allianz Trade, then known as American Credit Indemnity of New York, was granted the right to conduct business in the Dominion of Canada.  Our first office at 232 St. James Street in Montreal was at the heart of Canada’s business community. Over the years, our commitment to providing excellent service propelled us to expand our offerings to meet unique customer needs. In addition to helping with unpaid receivables during these times, we enhanced our trade credit offerings to also cover political risk, and in more recent years, we began offering surety bonds.
