Solunion celebrates its 10th anniversary

April 14, 2023

Solunion, the company providing trade credit insurance, surety and associated services for commercial risk management, celebrated its tenth anniversary with an event at the Casino de Madrid, attended by shareholders, partners, and clients among others.

The company wanted to share this special moment with all those who, in the words of Alberto Berges, CEO of the company, "have contributed decisively to the growth of Solunion". Solunion’s origins date back to January 2013, when it began operations in Spain and Argentina, with the ambition of its two shareholders, MAPFRE and Allianz Trade (known as Euler Hermes then) to boost the growth of credit insurance and surety in Spain and Latin America.

Since then, the company has expanded its business to offer its products and services to companies from all sectors in Spain and 15 Latin American countries, and has registered profitable and sustained growth in all the markets where it operates. In 2022, it registered a global turnover of 294.4 million euros, 21.2% more than the previous year.

“It has been a very intense ten years in which, thanks to the great work of our people, the Solunioners, the strong confidence of our shareholders and the support of our commercial and distribution partners, we have evolved to become one of the main entities for commercial risk management on the Spanish and Latin American markets”, explained Alberto Berges. “Our real commitment, our boldness and our strength as a team: these are the Solunion values that are present in everything we do, and have driven us to grow year after year”.

Throughout this decade, Solunion has become a reference partner thanks to an ambitious vision and strategy for future growth. “We are committed to innovation in our range of products and services, so as to place ourselves at the forefront of the industry. We are much more than an insurer: we accompany our clients in managing their commercial risk throughout the life cycle of their business. Our priority in these ten years has not changed: we want to offer excellent service, based on proximity, listening and transparency", explained Alberto Berges.

In addition, the highest representatives of each of Solunion's shareholders, Allianz Trade and MAPFRE, participated during the event.

Wilfried Verstraete, Chairman of Solunion, said: “As one of the architects of the creation of Solunion, I have had the privilege of witnessing and accompanying the successful growth of this unique project. In particular, I want to congratulate all the people at Solunion who over the past ten years have actively participated in this extraordinary adventure. With the active support of its two partners, Allianz Trade and MAPFRE, Solunion has grown into an innovative reference for trade credit and surety offerings across Spain and Latin America.”

Aylin Somersan Coqui, CEO of Allianz Trade, highlighted the potential of Solunion, which today represents "one of the most important entities within our Group, with a dynamic activity, a very strong customer orientation, and a ‘continuous innovation’ approach to credit insurance and surety”.

Ignacio Baeza, first Vice Chairman of MAPFRE and Vice Chairman of Solunion, mentioned that “Solunion occupies a very relevant position today and has our absolute confidence and support. We are very proud to support this company that, from the very beginning, has shown an extraordinary ability to achieve profitable and sustainable growth in a context that has never been easy".
