Several recent economic reports all showed more inflation, if you can believe it. First up is the consumer price index (CPI) which is the most commonly cited inflation measure. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that consumer prices rose 0.6% month over month in September, the largest increase in five months, putting the year-over-year rate at 3.7%, 0.1% hotter than expectations, and much hotter than August’s 3.4%. And it was much, much hotter than inflation before the war, when it was running as cool as 2.4% in February.
