War Will Make Slowing Growth and Rising Inflation Worse

The March employment report was much stronger than expected, showing that the economy created 178,000 jobs vs. expectations of a mere 60,000. It was a very sharp bounce back from February’s loss of -133,000 jobs, and overall revisions for the previous two months were a modest -7,000 jobs. March’s total was boosted by the end of a healthcare strike which added approximately 31,000 jobs, and improved weather which helped a gain of 26,000 jobs in construction.
